Many of these festivals are held to honor the deceased and to recognize the place of departed souls. It is a central pillar in their belief and hopes of being joined together with their loved ones in the afterlife.

Higan is celebrated in Japan at both the spring and autumnal equinoxes, when the days and nights are of equal length. This time of seasonal transition is when the distance between the world of the living and the world of the dead is thought to be the shortest.

Here Fuzichoco has unleashed a true treasure of her talent as an artist with this surreal interpretation of a spirit wedding ceremony. We can only assume that this young bride-to-be has been reunited with her true love. Together they will begin their journey and eternal bond as they pursue their dreams in this captivating but mysterious afterworld.
